Gloede Web Development

My experience in Web development includes the following:

WBT creation, using Lectora, Flash (with ActionScript), and Captivate.


August 2005 to June 2008
EDS – Project Lead/Web Developer/Designer, Led team of designers and developers on the Service Delivery Automation (SDA) initiative to integrate ITIL into EDS and our Job One client, GM. Created WBT for EDS University/Learning Catalog. Responsibilities: Task assignments; development and presentation platform analysis; development hardware and software needs analysis; graphics design and creation coordination; course logic creation and compilation; course file control; course testing – alpha and model office coordination; problem solving; customer review coordination; course conversion, packaging, and distribution coordination. Developed over 80 courses, using Lectora, Flash (with ActionScript), and Captivate.

May 2003 to May 2005
O/E Learning – Web Developer/Designer,
Led and participated in teams to design and develop instructional materials. I created computer-based training (CBT), WBT and online, interactive marketing tools for varied clients. Responsibilities: Main client contact; instructional needs analysis and surveys; development and presentation platform analysis; development hardware and software needs analysis; project scope and resource needs; project plan; course design, storyboarding, and scripting; graphics design and creation; course logic creation and compilation; course file control; course testing – alpha and model office; customer review coordination; course documentation and installation instruction creation; course conversion, packaging, and distribution. Development tools: Flash (with Actionscript), Dreamweaver, Adobe (Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere), Generation21 Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS).

February 1995 to May 2003 - EDS - Electronic Data Systems - Web Universities & Training (WU&T). This unit of EDS supplies instructional materials to customers around the world.

Advanced Training Specialist, Led and participated in teams to design and develop instructional materials, using the latest electronic learning media. We created electronic performance support systems, including CBT, WBT and interactive on-line help systems. Primary customers were divisions of General Motors Corp. Responsibilities included: Main client contact; Instructional needs analysis and surveys; Development and presentation platform analysis; Development hardware and software needs analysis; Project scope and resource needs; Project plan; Course design, storyboarding, and scripting; Graphics design and creation; Course logic creation and compilation; Developer assignments, coaching and work edits; Course file control; Course testing – Alpha and model office; Internal EDS and customer review coordination; Course documentation and installation instruction creation; Course conversion, packaging, and distribution. Development tools included ToolBook; Macromedia (Flash (with Actionscript), Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Authorware, Homesite, Robohelp); Adobe (Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere, Audition); DigitalThink Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS).

Following is a detailed list of the major projects on which I contributed during this period:

§  DigitalThink Corp., “Boot Camp” in San Francisco, CA.  EDS invested in sending a select few individuals to this intensive Web Development Seminar and Training for four weeks in September 2000.  This team-building activity was designed to develop leadership and staff the Web Universities & Training group’s e-learning initiatives.  We were taught what it takes to scope, design, develop and sell excellent and profitable web-based training.

§  GM Vehicle Order Management (VOM) Computer Based Training (CBT), On-line Help
Project lead and lead developer on multiple releases of the VOM application, which has brought millions of revenue dollars to our organization.  Mentored and coached other developers and advised line management on best courses of action with regards to budget, business requirements, industry trends, best tools, and human resource-related issues.  As project leader, interfaced with top GM clients and EDS VOM Subject-Matter Experts.  As such, gathered unrefined business requirements from multiple sources and formulated and delivered superior solutions in a timely manner.  This required task assignments and delegation to my teams of developers.

§  EDS University - Business Value Framework (BVF) Web-Based Training (WBT)
Project leader, Instructional Designer, Web Developer, and Graphic Designer on this WBT course, which is required for all EDS sales personnel.  This was a virtual team, with other team members and SMEs located in Plano.

§  JASON Project WBT
Led and developed WBT courses, accessed from the World Wide Web to educate a diverse audience, as well as to formally train our own staff in the process and tools involved in creating and delivering WBT courses and using the DigitalThink development platform.

§  Avaya University WBT
Developed WBT course, accessed from the Avaya corporate university to educate Avaya's technical employees.  Used the DigitalThink development platform in a collaborative team environment to deliver a superior set of courses in a timely manner.

§  Partsline CBT
Developed CBT multimedia course for employees in automotive parts departments.  Used extensive scripting code in a collaborative team environment to deliver a superior course in a timely manner.

§  JASON Project CBT
Led and developed innovative solution to business requirement of delivering science-related JASON Project curriculum to an audience with no internet access.  The stand-alone CBT served to educate this diverse audience, as well as to formally train our own staff in the process and tools involved in creating and delivering CBT courses.  

§  General Motors University (GMU)
Developed and maintained courses, accessed from the General Motors corporate university to educate GM's employees throughout the world.

§  Social Security Administration CBT Tool Evaluation
Developed CBT multimedia course for Social Security Administration, as an evaluation of CBT development tools.

§  General Motors Manufacturing and Assembly Cost System (GMMACS) On-line Help
Led team of developers and developed on-line help project.

§  GM Apprentice Tracking and Reporting System (ATRS) CBT
Led team of developers and developed CBT.

January 1986 to February 1995

EDS - Credit Union Services (formerly World Computer Corp.). This unit of EDS supplied 300 credit unions with computer hardware, software, training and technical support.

Training Development Department (January 1993 to February 1995)
Multimedia Developer, responsible for constructing CBT modules, using Authorware Professional. As the sole CBT Instructional Designer, I was responsible for all aspects of producing our CBT. CBT courses included an Introduction to the On-Line System and Certificates.

Research and Development Department (January 1990 to January 1993)
Senior Technical Writer, responsible for technical documentation research, design, creation and revision. My team was responsible for redefining customer education needs for our newly developed system. We redesigned customer and training documentation, creating style sheets and Society of Technical Communication (STC) award-winning standards documentation. We used state-of-the-art software to create hypertext documentation, context-sensitive on-line help, and CBT courses and exercises. I used desktop publishing software and graphics packages to create documentation graphics, including tables, illustrations, and screen examples. I also created marketing materials, brochures, presentations, and newsletters. I coordinated customer documentation releases, including artwork, paper, and binder acquisition, printing, and distribution. I was responsible for unit and system testing new software before customer releases, on an as-needed basis.

Customer Documentation Department (January 1986 to January 1990)
Technical Writer, responsible for technical documentation research, design, creation, and revision for the Data General AOS and MV systems.

June 1985 to December 1985

Reporter for the Anchor Bay Beacon, a community weekly newspaper. My articles concerned local and county government, crime and features. Also, I was responsible for advertising layout, proofing and sales.
